Harmony Of All Things
when i lie in bed
in the midnight light less
blankets all with darkness.
The mute light bulbs lie sleeping
dreaming electric dreams
of current and voltage
beyond the reach of my fingers
to awaken them to shine
little puddles of illumination
upon a lurking strangeness of the night.

i hear the wind swirl
over the roof and in the distant
cry of a train on grinning tracks.
Invisible paths beyond foreboding hills
and speculative woods
Running far in the darkness
armies of metal caterpillars jingle
on paths away .
Far from my home
they echo beyond the spaces of ears.
and all is quiet waiting
for something else to seek passage
under a splinter moon..

it stirs
in me the roots of thoughts
that grow in the dark earth of night--
as i amble through memories uniting knots
to recognize harmony with all things.
Just outside my window the old walnut tree
also ponders-- each limb
and twig sways and bends in the winds
and leafy reality...

In my roots
meaning seems hidden in all things
secret lanterns that
only burn in the mind
flows fluent as long
as the spirit can discern .
The demarcations of otherworldliness
Able to see--
only a paths beyond
the illusions of flesh's singleness...

Then the world turns--
seeps back into
dreams within dreams
it seems the train
had only imagined me--
in its passing,
and in forgetting me
as it has awaken me
and has enchanted and unknotted
the slumbering puzzle of seeming...
