Book Of Possibilities

In the catacombs & grottoes
of the winding library--
citadel of knowledge .
Deep within the intersanctum
of gray stone sky.
There in my study carrel
i sit within the metal lattices of my walls.
On the cold ancient table
i diligently glean books for lore.
Among corridors stacked & teeming
with plethora of books.

As mice scurry between peter-patter
with clever paws down surreptitious paths
their twitching whiskers portend
mysteries and the glimmering ways of discovery
my scribbling and dripping ink
between the mystic characters
with perplexing flourishes that i scribble.
And i look down infinite rows of books
as i copy psalms. . .

Old ones chants
from distant hidden chambers of paper
their words clatter
waft like transparent moths
down the labyrinths of breathing books.
These ghost-like moths
Fluttering rounding
in nimbus of similes
in intuitive paths around
the candle flickering flame.
The single humble candle
that lights my cell in a circle of clarity
Twinkling with its waxy wisdom
pooling at its base and with passing time
lighting possible roads of introspection. . .

As the quill trembles,
blown by some sublime draft
in my simple hand,
& the margins of leaves
of book are filled up
swirling with worlds
as my fingers cradle
the covers of that marvelous book
and capture words
as they find their places
in verbal constellations
of delicate lines..

Letters trickle
Dead poets whisper from forgotten veils
from the curious mausoleum of books
and I realize the book of possibilities
another page has turn again in the depths
glowing in the empty jar of my heart...
