The Tears OF The Moon

Sometimes the tears of the moon
flow down the sightless stairs of the stars
numb they roll thru the blank oblique clouds.
In our sleep they hang like luminous orbs
floating in the the naked branches of our leafless trees.
Slowly descending on the oblong roofs, & tiles
& the eves of dark slumbering houses.
Looking to drip into our sleep
from the shingles of rationality
like uninvited children.
They swim cascading images.

What can the moon tears
tell us about the fate
that is unfolding us
in this clumsy material world
pruning us toward a distant oblivion.

The tears of the moon laughter echoes
in the pools of our consciousness
landscapes float in their singing throats.
For every tear is but the mother of a song.
For in our griefs & our troubles
these new songs echo out of
the treble clefs of our teeth.
We can never understand the riddle
of the grief of the moon as she orbits
the spacious mantel of our finite sphere.
But her crying echo’s in our hearts
like the chirp of newborn birds
in the nests of wisdom
in a distant unfurling future.
