The day we met
I can still remember the day we met,
A day of fate that you can't forget.
I had always dreamed of love at first sight,
Heaven only knew that this was to be the night.
You were spending the night with a friend,
Her brother invited me, I wished it wouldn't end.
I can still recall the sparkle in your eye,
Wondering to myself, "Can I be her guy?"
I was afraid that you wouldn't like me,
Maybe I was too ugly or just too dorky.
But minute by minute it became so clear,
That "Hey, I just might have a chance here."
I kept sneaking looks at you throughout the night,
Your beauty and charm broke my loneliness with your light.
I did not want the night to ever end,
I could feel in my heart, our souls starting to blend.
The drive home was the longest of my life,
"Could she be the one, could she be by wife?"
And all through the night I pondered my fate,
Knowing without doubt that you would be my mate.
Author's Notes:
I wish that everyone could find the love of their life, because no matter what people say there is love at first sight. This is dedicated to my loving wife who will always be the love of my life.

I always get such a heart of joy when I read both your comments on CP to me or others. You are indeed a team...a match made in heaven without a doubt.
Your love and passion for each other is such an inspiration....you are very blessed..but then you know that.
I LOVE this poem Richard! It says it all. the uncertainty, followed by the inner conviction you have now met your soul mate! OMG I LOVE IT!

Wow, Richard!

How very romantic and I'm sure Gay feels the same way about you. I am so glad you have found love. My husband, Andrew, and I have been married for 15 years and have been together for 20 years. We have always been the best of friends and we love being in each others company. I can relate so well to your words.

Take care.......Sue

It's special, Richard, to see that you are proud in your Soul Mate~ So many times, men have a problem in expressing the REAL true feelings about their Love, but with this post, it seems that you have no doubts about your choice~! WONDERFUL~! This is a very nice addition into the Love Slot..Thanks for writing and sharing.

Hi Richard:
This is really a special write for a very special lady. She is the light of your life, but she also brings light to our lives. It is easy to see how she quickly stole your heart. You are a lucky man Richard Johnson to have a Gentle Dove in your life. By the way, she looks a lot taller in her page than she does in yours.LOL Thanks for the insight and the wonderful write. Bill

'I could feel in my heart, our souls starting to blend', this is lovely Richard.

I've never believed in love at first sight...but this story sure has made me doubt that.

You are both so fortunate to have met one another. Thank you for sharing this union by means of this poem. =))

~Barbara~ *feelin' the love*
