Lost in Flight
Rummaging through my drawers

Finding nothing but ifs and ors

If I'd have worked harder...studied more

Questions burned into my core

I yearn for the simplicity I knew before

Day to day life became a chore

Before I'd work and slave

Praying for an early grave

Or a way to save

What I call life

From what I call strife

And from what I call a knife

They say all I needs a wife

But that cant be right

It seems so trite

Where is the light?

What is this night?

What is my plight?

Where is my might?

What is my fight?

Where is my sight?

I'm lost in flight

And I'm never coming down

Landing back in this one-horse town

Searching for love in the lost and found

I won't be your clown

I won't wear your frown

When you speak, I hear no sound

I turn around

And walk away

Seeing the world, to my dismay

To distant to touch

And it hurts so much

To be a crutch

Holding others heads high

When they care naught if I

Would live or die

No tear should fly

From my own eye

If I turn from them

When he's just him

And she's just her

When I'm a horse

And they're the spur

Piercing my side

Time and again I have tried

To believe it justified

To abandon this ride

But to hear how she cried

Leaves me dying inside

Convincing me

To swallow my pride

And pick her back up

Her arms all tracked up

I pick her slack up

And she gives the smack up

Another month we shack up

And she's at it again

A week goes by

No clue where she's been

And I'll swear that I

Don't care anymore

Then my phone will ring

And open the sore

I answer the phone

And call her a whore

And turn off my cell

But by the next day

She's filled my voice mail

With messages covered in tears

And scattered with fears

And "help me please dear"s

Again I'll break down

And cover her bill

She'll come home

And let her veins heal

She'll tell me how she feels

Like she'll never do it again

I tell her how we're just

Back where we've been

Three weeks will go by

I won't see her and then.
