A Boy Becomes A Man

Boy Comes A Man                                                                                           4/12/21

There is a line crossed, when a boy becomes a man,

No expected date on the calendar to when it began.

But fate has a way of determining the need,

And God with his grace, plants the seed.

Stepping up in consciousness, growing in faith,

Seeing the maturity with the expression on his face.

Putting himself second to the others in line,

Unselfishly waiting for it to be his time.

A learning of forgiveness, a resurgence of heart,

Knowledge of healing, whatís fallen apart.

An understanding of how to put into place,

A protection of loved ones in his space.

This rite of passage, this coming of age,

Is more than just a turning of a page.

Itís about self-growth, maturing of the mind,

A growth faster than the current state of time.

Iíve seen these changes in you, my son,

No longer the child who used to run.

Circling the wagons in search of more,

Devouring what life had in store.

A claimer soul, I see in you,

Taking the time to think things through.

Making decisions, planning your way,

Seeing tomorrow, not just today.

What a man, you turned out to be,

Right in front of my eyes to see.

But in my mind, Iíll always remember the boy,

Who stole my heart, like it was a toy.

This is very touching and personal. What an awesome realization for a parent. You've woven in words of wisdom to live by while defining maturity. Nicely done!
