He Who Rose Again

Through He who died and rose again,

Our living hope is He.

His defeat of sin ended at the Tree.

A clarion call He has sent;

Die to self; His will augment,

Through He who died and rose again.

Our standard He, is set on high,

This world’s lusts no more shall cry.

His defeat of sin ended at the tree.

Seek His face, call His name.

All children bowed, are thus the same.

Through He who died and rose again

 Our presence here on Earth is brief.

To find the answer brings relief.

His defeat of sin ended at the tree.

Draw close to Him, the crucified,

It was for you and me He died,

His defeat of sin ended at that tree;

Through He who died and rose again.

Haven't done a villanelle in a while, and considering the upcoming season, I thought this would be appropriate.

very nicely done, Bruce.

To contemplate the supreme sacrifice that Jesus gave for us is time well spent. The last stanza say so much and is the basis for our Hope, Faith, and Appreciation.
