I'm Alone and I'm Okay

I'm alone and I'm okay

You can hear everyone talk

She won't be alright once he's gone

But I promise you I am strong

I promise you I'm not the one

I'm not the one to cringe and cower

I won't be locked away in the tower

I am someone who will rise above

I do not need...

I want, Yes I want, I desire, but no I do not need

This is not something I wish to nurture

The hunger within is one that strives to be independent

One that strives to be free...

I am free, not only of my own demons, but from yours as well

You will not hold me down

Friend enemy mother lover

I will not be tethered to the ground by your expectations...

I will soar with the eagles you flocking pigeon

You go ahead, judge me as haughty.

Those in the mediocrity always will criticize one who values their own self worth

I made me

I have the strength

I have the wisdom and

I have the ability to be...

You did not carry me

You opened no doors

On the contrary it was my destiny to be more than what you wanted me to be

I found the cracks in the walls

I sought out the light shining through

I dug through little by little to break out and seek what was meant for me.

I did it without you and now...

I'm alone and I'm okay

I really like the thought..."I sought out the light shining through the cracks in the wall.

That was what helped you rise above and regain your self-esteem and independence. That was your beginning!

Very strong and sincere poem.

A telling piece. You sound confident and somewhat defensive. Whatever the case, you are ready to be independent.
