This is Where We Part Ways

Our journey together has been long,

And full of words of which I am ready to let go

Like a live oak tenaciously holds

Its dry, crumply brown leaves until spring.

My tree needs new buds, fresh green leaves

That will grow and stretch

And wave with life in the wind and the breeze.

So – one by one I am letting the dead leaves of

"Why didn’t I….”

"What if I had….”

"If only I had…”

"It is too late…”

Gently drop to the ground to allow what is next

To grow and be seen.

This is where we part ways.

Goodbye, Regret.

Author's Notes:
I am debating on whether to leave the Title as the first line of the poem or leave as is.

CeeCee   This is an interesting, introspective look at the life span of all of us; trees, and man.  I enjoyed the prospective of the poetry.

BTW I agree with MoonStar;  The Title is perfect and appropriate.                                 Bruce

First off, definitely leave the title as is!

Secondly... Loved, loved, loved, this! Your usage of words were perfect, all the way till the end..

Hands down..
