She who gave me birth

This is a story about someone,

Who made me who I am today,

The person who always had my back,

Who loved me more than words can say.

If I ever had trouble,

Drying the running tears,

She was always ready,

With open arms and ears.

She taught me to defend myself,

To always stand for what I believe,

To be proud of myself,

In spite of how others may perceive.

She’s always instilled in me,

Her sense of strength and pride,

She’s always put up a tough front,

Despite of how she feels inside.

I see beneath the mask she wears,

The source of her hidden pain,

Despite the fact she is my sanctuary,

In a world of evil and disdain.

Whether we be close together,

Or if we live far apart,

She will always be my mother,

Forever in my heart.
