As Halloween Comes

From out of the dark…there’s a  squeak of a stair
a terrified glance shows that no one is there
From out of the silence…a whispering sound
An echoing voice when no one is around

A light, glancing touch leaves a chill of great fear
You think you’re alone, but something is quite near
A shiver runs through, your mind tells you to run
You know if you don’t that your time is done

You run towards the door…now a black, gaping hole
Something in the dark waits to swallow your soul
A spine chilling laugh echoes ‘round the room
Filling your heart with the pending of doom

There’s nowhere to turn, and nowhere to run
Your heart pounds with fear sounding loud as a gun
For hours you search through dark rooms and long halls
No one answers your screams or your calls

Outside the sun rises, but inside dark prevails
Like the darkest and foulest deep pits of black hell
There is no escape and you’ll ever remain
In this pit of despair that will drive you insane

Author's Notes:

Trying to start writing again…it’s been a real struggle since Keri passed away.

Glata, no matter how long you're away the writer within you comes shining through. You've got a gift and it would be a shame if you were unable to share it. Hang on to your memories always but don't let them keep you from expressing your thoughts, use them.  Hugs,   Henry
