Today..I looked into my best friends eyes...

Today..I looked into my best friend's eyes..
clouded now with age.
We talked about the memories..
as we prepared to turn yet another page.
We talked about the good ol' days...
about the many great times that we've had.
We talked about the hell we've raised..
both the good parts..and the bad.
We talked about our adventures..
and how we've watched each other grow.
And when I looked into my best friend's eyes..
I told her how much I loved her so.
I told her how much I appreciate her..
for the many times that she's been there.
And as she lay her head down in my lap..
I gently began to stroke her hair.
Her body frail..unable to walk..
the effects of the years gone by.
And as I held her close to me..
I softly began to cry. I looked into my best friend's eyes..
so clouded up by age.
And I held her while she passed away...
and we turned that final page.
