Once I Was

Once I was a traveler. I walked to the ends of this earth and beyond. This was my existence, to walk and see everything there was to see.
And I did. For millennia untold I walked and watched. Until I had seen all there was to see.

Then I became a dreamer, dreaming new worlds, new adventures and new fantastic marvels. This was my existence, to dream all that can be dreamt.
And I did. For time unending I slept and dreamt. Until I had dreamt all there was to dream.

Then I became a builder. I took one rock and placed it upon another until I had build a house, then a village, then a world. This was my existence, to build until nothing was left to build.
And so I did. Until I had build all there was to build.

Once I was alive. I lived my life as fully as i knew how. This was my existence, to live and be alive to the fullest extent of my ability.
And i did. For a short second in time i was alive. I lived for as long as I could until the darkness took me.

A very dark poem but I really could understand what you and I try to live for,
