Sunday Morning at the Fire House

Sunday Morning at the Fire House

It's almost five in the morning but I've been awake since four.

I was awakened by a dream, I just couldn't sleep any more.

Another morning at the firehouse, soon I'll be getting off duty.

A crisp fall day and I love God's creation, in all of it's beauty.

Now it's officially five o'clock, should I fix me a pot?

With French Vanilla creamer at the ready, I like it allot!

I suppose I will go fix me some but I will be right back.

Let me turn the alarm off, some people are still in the sack.

I am back now and I think it's time to try out my first sip.

"Dang tha's good coffee!”, as the first one passes my lip.

I took the garbage out last night and washed a load of clothes.

I'll check if the truck needs cleaning and stretch out the hose.

The lid comes off now and the third sip's even better than the first.

There's nothing like "Special Brew” to quench my mornin' thirst.

It's a lazy Sunday morning at five forty-one.

Truck is fine, no one's awake not even the sun.

Another sip, should I check and see what's on the news?

Think I'll keep writing, what's on TV gives me the blues.

Five fifty-five now, I had to go get cup number two.

And I just had to step outside and enjoy the view.

All the martins are gone and the grass is starting to slow.

The mower will be put away as soon as it ceases to grow.

It's fifty-nine degrees outside and the gentle breeze is cool.

Most kids are asleep because on Sunday, there's no school.

Six fifteen now and I've just enough time to finish this cup.

We'll sweep and mop the floor as part of morning clean-up.

After that I will pack up this laptop, because I'll be going home soon.

The Walking Dead is on tonight and the Saints play the Lions at noon.
