The Way A Cobra Smiles
His way is that of the Sphinx
silent, but ever watching
little or nothing to faze him
as he studies your bent
and gets to know you
He speaks of things eclectic
in a very sartorial way
never however, misread his wont
for nefarious intent
taxes moral terpitude
He'll make you feel at ease
though sly be his motive
foe he examines your persona
likes, dislikes, beliefs, convictions
he gets to know your habits
your ways
And when he gets your attention
and your trust
that is when he truly arrives
and by that juncture, he's got you
and he smiles
The way a cobra smiles....

Author's Notes:

I know this person too well and obviously you do too. Your description is so perfect it's scary. Well done. ML

I couldn't guess -- but I read all the reviews and now I know!  Is that cheating?  I think the comparison to a smiling cobra is amazing.  --Pyro

Lady D is right, it sounds like the Devil but I have seen that same cobra like smile on a few humans in my time.

Loved the poem.
