Winter's Sigh

The Eve is dawning distinct
early light arrives in shades of blue
it brings to me such longing
this day, one shy of Christmas morn

All seems lost in empty thought
even trees bow to forlorn down
mallards glide through crystal pond
frost dulls stark and barren grounds

I escape from a sleep stolen bed
left too cool in absence of you
the chill of lonesome nights
a harsh judge on time gone bye

This season meant to hasten cheer
celebrations arrive on snowflake light
feasts of suckling beast and faeiry cakes
still, even sugared punch brings thirst for you

A sigh lost in tears of winter's bleak
breath dances cross crackled glass
as I stare out dark frosted portal pane
your shadow fades on moon's demise

Saddened whisper echoes in the distance
laden with wishing you were near
how I miss you true, and I am left to bid
Merry Christmas, my love… good cheer falls low

I love you with each winter's sigh
in the silvered moonlight my dear, know
tied in scrap of ribbon and string
my heart is tangled and waiting for you.

Lovely, lonely...filled with such sweet even stronger during the festive season. Well done!

"even trees bow to forlorn down"... should this be " even trees bow to forlorn dawn"?
