Each day, each minute
Our senses are assaulted
Brains are washed with intent
To get us to buy what we don't need
Big corporations need to line their pockets
To satisfy their shareholders
It is all done in the need for more
Without a care of how it's accomplished
The directive? Get them to buy at any cost
Make sure to have the product expire
Planned obsolescence, so they buy over and over
The cost must be dear, so they don't get what they paid for
But that is not the dearest cost the consumer suffers
Ads make them suffer most in the mind
Often targeting a very precious commodity
Self esteem
Author's Notes:
Are you tired of not getting what you paid for and being made to feel guilty if you don't have the latest in fashion or technology? I am.

There is an old saying it's not what they are
selling it's what they are buying. I don't give my money to
companies who have no moral center. Walmart pulled a naughty leopard
costume for child recently because parents said the heck. Now Walmart is pour $50 billion into buying
made in the USA because of all backlash against non USA made products . The best is Walmart consumers said enough of
the toxic junk, so now Walmart is banning toxic chemicals in the products they carry. This is just one company, Campbell's has stopped using BPA lining in their soup cans. We collectively have a voice and it's up to us to stop the BS.

What kills me about ads is the sexual content out in plain view for young children to suffer...I can't go anywhere without my daughter's eyes being assaulted by these.  Rude, inconsiderate and disgusting even to me...and quite often degrading women...Women are expected to dress like sex toys...and to me that teaches young ladies that they are worth very little....used to be skinny...now it's sexy.  And it's not fair....

Your write is so right, Henry...

I make it a practice to by nothing that doesn't carry with it the danger of throat and tongue swelling, erections that last over four hours, stroke and fatal events..... I can't help but wonder what they mean by"fatal event". It can't be too serious, as they always say it in a cheerful tone.

Has this week's new smart phone come out yet? I want to get in line before they're all gone.....len

I totally agree Henry. I try to shop for basic rather than the trendy.

You point about planned obsolescence is a good one. I think the

I-Phone is a perfect example of it. A new model comes out every time

we turn around and people line up for days to get the latest and greatest.

Almost everything is so superficial these days.. people just really don't care anymore..

People don't want to think about things anymore. Just being aware about certain things.

I think that's a very very disturbing thing.. it scares me.
Great write :)
