Black Boxes
Scratching at my door
Fed and bathed but unmoved
Greener pastures on concrete
Never smelled so sweet

Who made me the killjoy?
Your mouth is an offense
The criminals are above us
Set to drop their wing tips

He's sad, but he's complacent
Something money can't buy
Such explains the apathy
There's no price on shame

Forgive my inadequacy
Ye of unlimited means
Suppose a limit showed up
Made you look in his eyes

You could collect the tears
Create a new industry
Never thanked for the privilege
Never heard from again

But he'd invite you all in
If only crates turned your head
Alas, a fitting decor
For such vapid folk

Fear not the trembling hand
It's only out for despair
Your hands are stained with blood
And painted over green

I think the imagery is really vivid in this, if the subject matter is conversely a little opaque.  Very tight phrasing makes the impact strong regardless.
