Back Porch View
Fond memories of days gone by,
gazing at amethyst and rose tinted sky
Graceful magnolia tree with velvet white blooms,
perched in its branches, a Cardinal preens scarlet plumes
Climbing arched trellis, fragrant jasmine sweetens the breeze.
Nectar is ambrosia to humming birds and bees.
Crimson colored roses complete the illusion.
Arbour laden with petals in profusion.
Water trickles in mosaic birdbath near.
Frolicking birds splash enthusiastically without fear.
From each section of the porch hangs lacy ferns.
Wind catchs fronds, and they sway in turn.
Gliding on my back porch swing,
the rest of the world I completely disregard,
as I survey the view of my back yard
Author's Notes:
This my idea of what a back yard should be.
Unfortunately, it is not what mine really looks like.

I had the feeling of being there!  Wow, now I'm kinda homesick for my backyard in Louisiana...all things I love, magnolias, lacy ferns, cardinals, jasmine.  Beautiful poem!

Oh the South I'd live there if it wasn't for work.  The picture you painted with your word is magical.  I can almost smell the jasmine.  Thank you Katie

I guess we all have a picture of how we would like our backyard views to be, if you can picture it in your mind Linda, then it is in fact a reality.  Hugs,   Henry

You can take that to the bank, Linda. The other Linda is right, you two would make a wonderful place together. She has so many great things going on there and you have a definite vision of what a backyard should be like. You paint a terrific picture, it is soimeplace I'd love to visit. Well done.

Dear Linda:  WOW!!  I am so enchanted -- and we would make such a lovely "backyard/garden" together.  My mind garden is fancy like yours.   Love your writes.
