A Sparrow With Awkward Wing
Often i made lists of words
as other laughed at me.
Cradled a dictionary
and limped home.
Words are reassuring
for their natures are dependent on their spelling.
Letter craft, puzzling mystery
of vowels and consonants
A undiscovered knack buried deep
a gift i could never master.

Often in recompense
i would discover my own words
hidden in the worlds brambles.
More gentle then the words
Others sharpened for me.
Words that did not care
about my social ugliness
Or how i dragged my foot behind me
without  pleasant tracks
i creased my path into undesirability
leafless trees are not beautiful
for those that wish to charm
and prune the trees
 into swan like topiary

i am sorry that  my hands
twitched my cursive slow
a swan i fear i cannot be
just a sparrow with awkward wing.

Strange how we can view ourselves in such differing light than others.  Beautiful words reflect beautiful souls. I have always been quite intimidated by the brilliant beauty of your poetry ....

You have clipped out a swan topiary despite yourself. :)
