Tongue Becomes Stone
We summon to the ancestral night
who can distinguish darkness
from our shadow soul

Brought face to face
we can-not escape
malicious eyes

Trusting destroyed our
loving faithful voice

~**~

Only the dead can be forgiven
 the tongue becomes stone

This is incredible.  How perfect it is.  Describing your Native roots and the strong and bitter feelings of your community.  I love these poems of yours.  I think they balance the love poems -- with a stark contrast.  Clearly, you feel these feelings so deeply -- and express them with such personal truth.  Great writing, India.  Love, David
