Nothing owed, nothing expected
Election time is over
with no cures to announce
The state of our country
will not be magically healed
We must all awaken to the fact
that our future is not rosy
In the present day we cannot learn
until we remember the past
Despite the politician's energetic claims
they too owe their souls
They sing a symphony of harmony
with utopian visions
While every promise made
falls by the wayside
As they clumsily step and fetch
in a lame attempt to explain why
We all know the reasons why
they owe their souls
The big business corporations
must be kept happy
For it is big business
that got them there
Which brings us as a country
down to our knees
Lost in a sea of special intrests
and plain old greed
Oh for the day eo come
when a politician can declare
There are no special considerations
for powerful business lobbyists
Because if nothing is given
nothing can be expected

I don't understand why lobbyists are even legal...They pay money given to them by big business to our elected officials, for favors down the line. If thaT'S NOT BRIBERY, i DON'T KNOW WHAT IS...LEN

Henry  a great word bank challenge about politics well done.

Maybe one day we the people will again become number one.

Henry, this is fantastic!  A wonderful and meaningful solution to the WBC.  The language is absolutely beautiful -- I love the last two lines especially.  All this -- and easy-to-read too!  Happy Thanksgiving!  --David

Excellent summary of a truly sick society, it would seem that Washington has rung the death knell and is waiting for the end. Well done, Hank.

And don't think it's just you, it's just the same in Britain and no doubt all over the world. Well said.  Bill
