Toward Home
Since running down a high tide
many aching years have passed
but it is now time for returning
and I sail for home at last

I will sail into the storm light
lest my fraying spirit fails
I can feel your soft voice singing
in the dancing of the sails

The wide wild waters seething
with dark waves cresting high
they run before a Northeast wind
as stars glide across the sky

My course set by Northern Stars
that spin toward me now
those miles that lie between us
spread away before my prow

I know a candle glimmers
in a lantern by the door
as you pray for my returning
listening to the breaker's roar

And I pray to see the lighthouse
that stands before the shore
and when at last I reach your love
I will sail the wild no more

This is fantastic! I have come to expect free form from you, so imagine my surprise to find a delightful piece of rhyme. A sweet tale from first line to last.

Beautiful the sea with all its wonder....

Now your finally coming home to your lady love..

I know she waits with passion for her man of the sea....
