Word Bank Challenge -- The Stranger

Word Bank Challenge The Stranger

And on the dark plain dresses the stranger

With Spring came the hunt for ivory bones

For him a ritual written in the stones;

He came from the House of Sky a ranger

Life would turn ugly should he pass on by

I dreamt once he paused outside my window;

I shudder at the memory the show

Be not hopeful for you will surely die;

She rose staggering beauty dignity

Blue eyes paler than the rarest gemstone

Compelling she was earth-bound flesh and bone

Dawdling over coffee far from city

Life she felt a great curiosity;

Loved she the solitude of the great plain

She abandoned the jeep time and again

To search without fear or temerity;

A sensation of acute emptiness

Apologetically she dropped her drink

He was close she could not know could not think;

He was attracted by her loneliness;

There was no-one to hear or see -- witness;

Her bones to him shone through her petite body

He was disease without antibody

Now he approached from the wilderness...

Author's Notes:
I love sci-fi or horror mixed with suspense so I make no apologies for this!  Great challenge Linda Jo...

I have rarely read poems stranger than The Stranger.  Great fulfillment of Linda Jo's word-bank challenge.  This is pure Alistair!  --David
