I May
I may not be the smartest man in the world
May not have a college degree
May not have much money to spend on the luxuries in life
Sometimes I'm hard to get along with
Sometimes I may say what you don't want to hear
Sometimes I may be to upfront
A little to honest
Won't sugar coat things
But something I will always try to be
Is a good friend if you let me
Someone who will be around
If you feel like you're going to drown
Someone who will be that light at the end of the darkest of tunnels
That shoulder to cry on when life has kicked you to the ground
I'll help you up
I won't hold your hand through life
How ever I will hold it
When you're down on your luck
Just need that person to be your rock
I don't ask for much in return
Just have a friend that will do that in return
Don't lie to me
I will see right through it
I can be what ever you want me to be
All you have to do is ask.

nice words about friendship brought a special one to mind after reading yours.

Sometimes we can really miss someone but the comfortable thought is they miss us just as well.

You don't post many poems but when you do it amazing and you speak the truth..

True friend ship is to be admired and honest emotions must self explain...

You have done that right here.... *****

What really impresses me is the honesty this poem shows.  I think this must be really about yourself... although it is a truthful view of nearly everyone.  While we'd all like to be superheroes, we must see that we're just mortal human beings.  That is good enough.  If only more were like you, what?  --David

Great description of a true friend.  Hope you have at least a few.  At time things seem too heavy for even friends to be able to help one though.
