There was a time

There was a time

When love flowed endless

Like a river swollen

After a deluge
There was a time

The banks could not keep it within

It would flood all it ran past

Life plays a cruel game

Getting in the way as it does

Star crossed is too strong a phrase

It is more like poor timing

Love needs timing to be ideal

For it to flourish

Without it, it withers

Just as it did
There was a time
When love was right
Until it all went wrong
Such a pity too
We were so good together
Until fate threw in the wrench
Loosened the bolts, stripped the threads
There was a time
Nothing was beyond repair
Until now

Comment By: FreeWide Awake on September 5, 2013 07:57:35 AM Report does seem like that sometimes.  I do think there are always silver linings to be found though...reasons for everything.

A very sad poem, well written, able to move the heart~

Oh...How this clutches ones heart to read.... I so well understand its meaning..

Life has a way of destroying what we want most ...sometimes I wonder why??

My heart goes out to your misery....

We have been friends for years now if you need a friend to talk too

I am always here... Hugs ~ She Whispers

How love can be a blessing to some and a four letter word to others. Good work, Hank.

Absolutely beautiful. That time , indeed, comes for most of us at last. Repair is not always possible. A mature poem. Enjoyed it Henry.  ~Dean
