The Mind
In the darkest corners,
disembodied voices speak
in metaphor and riddles.
back in the padded room,
sitting against the back wall,
struggling not to cry,
lost, lonely, waiting.
Disembodied eyes
watch as the man
striving to master
his fraying senses.
losing the battle,
tears cascade
into the ever widening
pool of misery.
Ethereal beings
dance around the
shadowed edges,
ghosting through time.
eyes widen with impact,
realization sweeps in
like a storm-blown gale,
thundering across the consciousness.
The world implodes with a 'POP',
eyes snap open,
the mind registers
brutal afterimages
of the madness designed dream.
"The dream is real, my friends. The failure to realize it is the only unreality."
-Toni Cade Bambera

Stunning stuff -- have enjoyed the whole series -- just wish there was more.  It's been a ride
