Signpost Of Life

Signpost Of Life

At that place where there is nowhere left to fall

Is a signpost to one's life where all roads lead

Up except one that points to nowhere at all;

One must try to clamber up till fingers bleed.

To choose to go down is an invitation

To He that rests below the Prince of all Lies

The jackal with two faces an admission

To add your pitiful life to all those lives

That have succumbed to overwhelming sadness;

Slipped down the slippery slope of suffering

To be engulfed in the great well of madness;

Of torture to the tormented soul teasing.

Do not choose the lower path to Hell's cauldron

Clamber up the many paths to salvation.

Sounds like a trip down the DHSS, on a more serious level though this is indeed a very illuminating poem with plenty of fuel for thought, thoroughly enjoyed Alistair~Graham.
