Sunlit Patterns
Sunlit Patterns

Sunlight beaming softly through
Emerald green,lacy floral curtains
Projecting outlines upon the wall
Causing the eye to be mistaken.

Four elf owls perched upon a branch
Congregating silently
Rays of light intensify
                     As morning slowly awakens.

Moments quickly pass
Sunlit patterns begin to disperse
Quickly without a trace
                     Leaving quietly as they appeared.

...this is one of those poems in the catagory, "wish I had written this".  Yes, I see what you see...but I will trade 2 of my purple finches for 2 of your elfin owls; perched upon a branch.  I saw 2 quails this morning marching on the upper wall and a roadrunner made a rare appearance a couple of weeks ago.

Your poem is a delight. I love it!  Looking forward to many more.  Welcome back!

Lovely write -- made my morning; it is foggy/misty at my place and your delicate write makes me smile.
Happy to see you writing again.  Take care, dear Friend.

Our apartment faces south and west -- so i have no picture idea of the beauty and interesting patterns you describe...  But you gave me a good idea of what they're like:  thanks!  --David

I've seen these patterns many times myself and find them fascinating, I would say to my wife can you see that face reflected on the wall and she would invariably say no,so I think its all in the eye of the beholder what we perceive others may not, excellent writing as always ~Graham.

That's nice! I also love the sunrise and sometimes I get up very early, specially to take pictures and look at the sun rising. Great poem by the way. I enjoyed it.
