{an old one}
The machine man dreamed
Dreams in terrifying binary images
He dreamed of worlds within worlds
Each world smaller than the one before
Like orbs caught between opposing mirrors
the vision of infinity,
appeared logically in his machine brain
He was not made uneasy by the fact that the worlds within worlds became
smaller and smaller without end
For his machine brain valued not the concepts of large and small
These were the follies of the biological creatures
These creatures judge creation using the size of their bodies
as the universal unit of measurement for all things
What terrified the machine man about his nightmare?
Behind the mathematical perfection of the systematic order
his mechanical subconscious saw rampant unbridled chaos,
ruling supreme throughout the cosmos
His perfect machine brain ran millions upon millions of calculations while he slept
Chaos is at the core of all things, his dream told him
He tried to reason how insanity could be at the center
of his perfectly ordered world
The machine man awakened to discover
that under his synthetic body
it was chaos holding the false image of solidity together
He saw small strands of energy in his forearm, twisting
and sliding, randomly colliding in an accidental manner which allowed
the illusion of his shiny and solid forearm to be what he expected it to
be
If chaos is behind order, he reasoned, then chaos
must have order creating it
Chaos birthing order and order creating chaos, into infinity
The mechanical man closed his metal eyelids
He waited for dream to overtake him
When he awoke, he found himself not to be a mechanical man, at all
He felt the morning sun warming his being
He opened his bright red petals yearning for life giving rain
He felt his roots under the soil
and willed them to gather nutrients
He bade his petals to drink in life giving sunlight
And he was at one with the earth
He neither thought, nor dreamed, but loved life
And he was happy
