Looking Back
Helplessly held in the moment as your emotions coiled around me

Sweet venom passed through my heart and carried away my pain

I couldn’t stay away and knew I would never find anyone else like you

Sometimes loves stays and sometimes tears of doubt wash it all away

As you got near I felt the intentions of how things were supposed to be

Can I hold on to love or will it slip away like moonbeams in your hand

I can't help laughing at myself. This is dumb of me.   I know this is a beautiful love poem between a man and woman, but I can't shake the feeling that it perfectly describes how I felt when I first saw MY first dog.  He had a beautiful demeanor.  A Golden Lab-Great Dane cross.  We went and did everything together.  Camping, canoeing, 4 wheeling, hiking (carried his own backpack with his food and my beer)  His name was Caesar and he carried his noble name very well.
Heck, I know this isn't where you wanted to go with the poem, but I rarely walk the trails others walk.

Loved it    and thanks for the memory

I.... I have words for this.... but I am unable to find the appropriate... words, I suppose, to voice them. This is a good poem, I... Just don't know how to say what I want to say..... I guess... the easiest way to say them is, looking back can be hard, even harder to write about, but then the right woman can take away the pain, like a "sweet venom" I suppose... this is a well written poem,

Wonderfully written.  "Sweet venom"  I have heard that venom from a snake can make you numb and remove pain, but whoa. is that what you want a woman to remove the pain? But in the end if no treatment is sought the person dies.!!!  Love certainly carries the risk of a heart collapsing at it's loss.  On the other hand if one never takes that chance, the heart will be forever longing.  Sorry for the long interpretation on this beautiful poem.
