From Within the Hole in My Heart
Friend of mine,
I shan't continue to write to you.
The neurons are dying,
Tumbling ever so gently just out of reach,
And it is my loving you that pushes me away.
I have failed to give you that which you long for
So it is my duty to genuinely depart
As a one-winged crow,
Or an ancient star,
Just meaningless light.
And at this time I find no words profound enough
To resurrect this enrapturing asterism
For I have faded, beyond my control,
And I have traded life for a fragile hope.
I just want to be able to sleep at night.
You once were in my dreams
And we danced in the sky
(a collection of history's every breath)
And your bones were the stairs to God
So I broke them.
There is no one watching over me.
The morning cameI, awake, alone,
    covered in blood.
Sometimes you are still fluttering near
And in those moments I feel the cosmic pull,
The final breath of life,
The dancing in the sky.
The mosquito which tore through my flesh that night was you.
It has always been you.
