Autumn Mountains

The first chill of fall becomes a prelude to winterís slumber

Hues of crimson and gold are splashed across the mountains

Visitors to the woods walk softly on a carpet of warm colors

An infinite number of leaves move back and forth like soft waves

The barren trees a stark contrast to the soon falling snow

The beauty of Mother Nature quietly covers all like a blanket

Author's Notes:

I live close to the Adirondack Mountains in northern New York.  People come from all over the southern and western states to see the autumnís beauty.

Steve, this is lovely. I am on the Cumberland Plateau in Tennessee. You have aptly described our mountains. Autumn is our reward for having survived the summer draught. Well done. ML

So true Steve, I have been up your way many times to witness the beauty of autumn, I believe it to be nature's finest beauty.   Henry

A beautiful poem.  Picturesque!  In my mind I can clearly see everything you describe  -- makes me want to go to the country.  Stuck in New York City -- but I guess that has its benefits too.  Lovely poem.  Easy to read.  Created a feeling of rest.  Thanks!
