The ancient tome hits the table

Falls open

Legends and secrets from long ago are revived

Once again seen with human eyes

Back when all lands were uncharted

Magic and fear was free

Flowers and fields owned the sunlight and earth

Ignited beauty within those who set eyes upon them.

Those flimsy legacies left by those who thought they'd made a change

Something significant, not necessarily for the better

The false eulogies of praises for them, spoken though gritted teeth

By those who outwards adored them, to gain a position within the class

It's artificial, mostly plasticized

The world is growing more and more demented

Fragmented systems and folks planting wild flowers

If they'd have been left alone, they would have continued to grow...

Mischief in the making, according to the scrolls

Written by those with eyes, that have seen it all happen before

Pleas for a sacred earth, beautifully created

Intrinsic materials and natural remedies

Magic to be believed in again, and children playing outdoors

It used to happen all the time; I hope it occurs once more

Rolling hills and vast blue skies, with extinct birds

That are again, able to fly

Back when all lands were uncharted

And the earth was a smaller place

The tome hit the table and recorded everything

Seen by eyes, spoken by breath and heard by ears

It also contained the detailed legacy, one of past mistakes

Lessons for the future

And yet, itís all happening again.

Mostly about history repeating itself and how we are having to undo damage constantly even though we know how to live and not let things get that bad.
