Before the Morning
My well intentioned beliefs
long held and centered in time
exhausted by the bitter tang
of futility on my tongue
The inner being now
apprenensive and alone
bluntly exposed and seared
by a bloody wounded heart
that drips eternal blood
into a golden cup
To turn away and drink
not of the blood of death but
finally to take a sip
of this dark and bitter coffee
so the throat burns clean
of a burning latent hate
My thoughts slowly whisper
through silent empty rooms
where now dusty cobwebs sway
in the flitting breeze felt
through a broken pane
And I have seen your stubbern ways
set against the winds of love
This potent drawn weapon
stood before your last days
Will you resume life's spirit
or be immediately depressed
by the face you see
muttering and mumbling
in the curve of the whiskey glass
The life and death situations
that lifts one's spirits high
in that rush of living on the edge
may bring feeling of fullfilment
But there comes the gloom
and the thunder of gunshots
loud in that last frigid night
of the mind's futile war
But time it ever turns
and it is nearly daybreak
and I am caught with emotions
you have laid before me
firece in the final dark
before the morning

Hey, you two make a good team, Tom! This was terrific, lots of imagery, passion and just a slash of vitriol mixed in. You are a word master, yo!

Thomas... I can't belive what I just read...

With the words I gave you I never thought you could make a love poem out of this???

See why I enjoy your style of writing??.. And a beautiful love poem at that I might add....

So I must give you a whole different type of words and let that creative mind go back to work....

 Always ~ Scarlett
