I have climbed this gray day
to a cold peak of stone
Low belly of cloud
stealing sunlight from the sky
The last ragged leaves cling
to branches standing stark
in this gloom of morning
As a penitent I kneel
on cold ragged rock
and in a voice of whispers
I call upon my God

And all these words given
All these imprecations
taken on a gusting wind
may yet find there way home
My fingers feel the stone
cold as I feel my soul
Hooded Crows watch
this man on bended knees
Frail against Nature's face
naked and hidden now
behind my eyes

My time here ending
I slowly sign and rise
I turn for home in a keening wind
down this well worn path
Have my words been heard
muttered here in the wild
with no Church but Nature
This I will never know
but belief holds me to this path
of prayer and supplication
to a man who died
to bring all believers home

Thomas... Once again you write from the faithful heart and it shows in the courage and faith of your poetry language ..

THis is so very beautiful... God is the light and the right pathway...
