The fires of lust
A bridge set afire, forever burned
Over still water that runs deep
Life has bit back, the worm has turned
For promises I could not keep
A veil has been cast over my soul
Darkness settles in around
Sanity spinning out of control
No longer upon solid ground
Blackness has invaded my mind
Weeping from an injured soul
Inflicted by a cut unkind
Nevermore to be whole
Never imagined it would occur
This blatant betrayal of trust
Things will never be as they were
Consumed by the fires of lust
Could I seek absolution
For sins that are in the past
Would my word drip with convolution
Resulting in peace that will not last

Blasted broken hearts, anyway! It's a wonder they don't drive us totally insane. And maybe they do. Good job, Henry. Horrible subject, but well done. ML

If there is a message within these lines I fear it is not a happy one the loss of trust and betrayal seem to ooze between the lines, emotional as well as harrowing my friend~Graham.
