The Ancient Tree
Walking softly through a Forest,
careful to avoid disrupting
the balance of nature,
I come upon a tree,
ancient beyond counted time,
laying my hand upon it's skin,
I close my eyes,
and I slowly slip into trance.
Somewhere balanced within myself,
I slip into that ancient tree,
seeing it's life as though my own.
Following it's life to the begining,
I see the birth of time,
I see the death of mankind,
My soul finds eternal peace
in that world of perfect serenity.
Ever so slight,
ever so insistent,
I feel a whisper,
urging me to return to my time.
Heeding that voice,
I return to my being,
standing still in trance,
hand upon that ancient tree.
Remembering that peaceful world,
I feel awake, alive
to the life of the Forest.
As I look upon the age old tree,
I see the gateway,
between our world
and the next.

I wrote this about a dream I had back in January of 2011.
