If You Ever Feel Like Coming Home
And these beclouding thoughts just keep themselves woven in my mind ever so gently. The mountain doesn't fall after the wind, and just the same I am awake after the moonlight. I am such a mess of melodies that I can't keep in. Phrases from Miss Saigon are coming out just slightly, but intricately enough to keep me tossing on the pillows. Sometimes this seems like we are reading Yiddish literature and no one really knows too much of what they see. It is so cold. Cold enough to give me a headache—so cold, in fact, maybe I shall stay awake for days with no moon. The odd thing about this, though incredibly daft, is I've kept my window open for God knows how long, waiting for the right time. It has been snowing in April, so perhaps the world we know is soon ending, but won't the cold go away? I am laying naked, but I think I do some of my best, dissipating back from the cosmos when I am stripped down to the skin. Maybe one day you shall come along with me. Maybe we can even stay hollow in the cold. You see the moon push me under when it pulls the waves aside, and the son is watching imprudently, standing at my left side, still trying to walk on water; and although it is printemps the world is ravished by ice, but there is always the slightest patch of open wave, small enough for his foot to slip underneath.

Five years pass—I am still cold. If you ever feel like coming home—
