wills herself not to speak.
Her nails dig into the plam of her hand
As she wills herself not to speak

What do you feel?
Can you tell me what your thinking?
Have you always been like this?

They all ask the same questions
She never answers
Counts the mintues on the clock
Bites her tongue
As she turns away
Just so they can't see the gathering tears
Never says a word
No point
Learnt not to trust a long time ago
They think they always know best
Look at her
With wondering eyes

Who is she really?

Under the layers of clothing
And dark eye make up
Hides behind her wall of pretend

Her nails dig into the plam of her hand
As she wills herself not to speak.
