Love's battlefield

A broken heart

Lies shattered trust

The heart mends in time

Yet scars remain evident

Is there a purpose

in breaking a heart?

Leaving it in pieces

never able to trust again?

Wounds scarred over

Traces evident in a cautious smile

The heart yearns for love

It's entrance denied

Collateral damage

From the cruelest of acts

Another heart broken

On love's battlefield

This is filled with pain and hard to read. A broken heart is the hardest thing to bear. I can relate to this poem--so true--the scars certainly remain. Your message is very clear Henry. So sad...I really feel the heartache in these lines. Well said...I hear you.

Ah, Henry....this is as if you have been looking right directly into the depths of my heart and life with this write...I don't think I could have written it better. Your way with words is always impressive, and this is another display of how you care about people and how you view the world around you.

Very well done, as always!
