Not So Merry Christmas
This is the season to be happy
To be joyous
But I can't stop thinking of you
It was around this time
When things started to fall apart
When my world hit a bumpy road
You started to fall apart
You lasted for a while
When it turned for the worse
The day before Christmas
We had dinner with your friends
Know you weren't doing good
The day after is Christmas Day
You ended up in the hospital
The day after I get word
Visit you in the hospital
Didn't know that visit would have been the last time
I would ever see you alive.
How I wish I would have stayed longer
Be by your side.
A few days later
You were released
Never knew you were out
Got word you had died
That's when my world
Hit a complete stop
So called family swooped in
Took you for all you had
Family that never talked to you
Never had anything to do with us
Never got a thing from the man I loved
With all my heart
The man
I would have done anything for
Your gifts I gave you
Were taken
By ones that didn't even care
Family won't talk to me
The only true one
That really does care
Is my wife
That I totally adore
A season for family
A season for caring
A season for loving
Is only for that one
My wife
Only one that cares
Won't throw me away
Like a piece of trash
My family left me in pieces
To be picked up by someone else
To many pieces to be picked up by only one person

Author's Notes:
This poem is about my father passing away.
It it wasn't for my wife my life would be in shambles more then it is.

Scott:  I am so sorry for your loss and the horrible way you were treated by family.  Losing a Father is very painful and to not be able to get any momentos/etc would be very very cruel and hurtful.

I am so glad you have Erin's love and support.
