Gratitude For The Rain

Out walking on my morning trek

I felt a damp spot on my cheek

It began with a single tiny drop

But then it did not stop

After the rain had begun

I slowly began to run

Then faster and faster I ran

Ran under a tall tree to stand

The first time in years I had run

This race I may have won

I had no coat, no cape nor cloak

My light knit jacket was soaked

Running in the morning rain

My distress I could not feign

Then suddenly it stopped…

I did not feel another drop

I slowed down my rapid pace

And wiped the water from my face

On shaky legs my thoughts did form

On a cold November morn’...

I bow to you, the morning rain

For you have made me run again…

Haha! Well done, Mary. But I don't think even a cold November rain could make me run again. ML

Oh Mary, this is lovely. Nicely penned. This poem makes me wish for rain so I may go run and play in it!
