Straight

I question how deeply life can hurt me?

The answer is, ‘always more’

A bottomless pit of ways to rob

even the small pieces of happiness

that squeeze through the cracks.

The more persistent I am,

The more inventive, circumstance.`

Oh, but its waste of time;

Though arid dawns

and steel nights assail me,

I was not born to break

I like the question in the first line and the answer at the end and the uncertainity in the middle lines.  I have always imagined you not ever breaking.

A fine piece of work...so true and so beautiful. Some of us are made of stronger stuff, yes, I do believe so

Life will present problems for us constantly.  It would be nice to just level off for a while and coast.  But no, it's always an up hill battle.

No you are a tough lady Alison. No point in breaking - there is always something around the corner. Give me a lesson in resistance sometime soon please.

Yes! I love your strength of heart Ali. As one that has endured her share of winds and rain, quakes and torrents, I embrace the same strength.
Your poetry is a force, your soul powerful and unyielding.

Indeed, you were not, and you will not. I'm a way out ahead of you and I can tell you that life doesn't get gentler. We just get stronger or get battered to death. And we aren't the type to sit still for a battering. ML
