This Room

Bleed me into your skin
Like a tattoo in green ink
And I think you'll find
I'll be on your mind
Once you let me in
Like a rainstorm in the city
It's a pity you can't sleep
Don't imagine that I'll weep
If you can't see it coming
In the clouds

But when you're soaking wet
From all the tears you never shed
Make the time to redefine
What love is supposed to taste like
Hot on your tongue
Or cold like this room
The room you built for us

Find me underneath your bed
Like a shoebox filmed in dust
Full of pictures that we took
Spare them only one look
There's no reason that you must
But imagine fingers tracing
And erasing all your doubts
You've never had to live without
Just tell yourself it's coming
In the clouds

But when you're soaking wet
From all the tears you never shed
Make the time to redefine
What love is supposed to taste like
Hot on your tongue
Or cold like this room
The room you built for us

Blank your stare and watch me pass away
Don't let your heart be troubled
By the past another day
You're all I ever hoped you'd someday be
And all it took was the death of me
But it isn't fair
Who will get me there?
The end of this is something
That you're not meant to see

Watch the paper towers fall
And forget the hands that helped them rise
Cover them with ink
And try not to think
Of when you had it all
Just remember you're still living
Let me give you what you need
And you'll never have to bleed
Even though you let me fall

Like a rainstorm in the city
It's a pity you can't sleep
But it's useless now to weep
'Cause soon you'll see it coming
In the clouds

But when you're soaking wet
From all the tears you never shed
Make the time to redefine
What love is supposed to taste like
Hot on your tongue
Or cold like this room
The room you built for us
