"Money You Take"
You enter our gates
And work you refuse to do
Take the easy route you do
Take the money that is not yours to take
Live life to the fullest you do
On the money you do not earn
A job you do not have
Yet money you seem to get
Car you drive, so nice and new
Who paid for it? not you.
Food on the table you have
Yet a days work you have not done
Easy life seems for you
When money you do not work to earn
Lazy you are
Work you can
Work you won't
The government won't make you work
Cry you will
Something goes wrong
Foul you will blame
cry racist you will
More you have than me
Work I do for what I've got
New car afford I can't
Jobs can be hard to find
Impossible they aren't
Look you must
But lazy you are
Money you ask for
Money you will not get from me
Can't afford to give you
You have your health care
Food on the table
Health care afford I can't
Even though I work hard
Time for the government to take a look to see
Money they will save
By getting rid of the fraud
From the lazy scum that take money
When they do not need
"Home of the brave and the land of the free"
Free it is for those people
That do not need to work
More we take
More the government gives
When will they learn
People will just use them
Government money used for alcohol and tobacco
To drink I can't afford
Food stamps used for the drink mixers like milk
For coffee brandy
Overhaul of system is a must
But when will it happen?
Author's Notes:
Inspiration from a poem by Oldguy  " To Themselves"
Poem may offend some but that's how it works.

Revision to this  11/30/2010
I have nothing against the disabled people.  What I don't like are the people that lie and cheat the system for there personal gain.   This poem is based on things that I have personally have had to deal with.. Things I have personally heard and seen.   Some people seem to judge this by some "research"  they have done but don't deal with it on a daily basis.  Before you comment.. what would you rather your hard earned money be spent on.. A hot chicken for the family or some alcohol or tobacco?  Then tell me the system doesn't need an overhaul.

I once saw someone outside of a convenience store bargaining with customers to trade his food stamps for cash to buy beer. it disgusted me and made me lose faith in the system today. thank you for writing this.

I am surprised at this - I do not know a lot about the American Social Security System but from talking to Maggie it does not seem that generous to me. In the UK it seems to be a bit more generous, but £56 or $84 a week does not seem a lot to me to live on even if you are getting your rent paid. In fact I know it is not as I helped my nephew when he was unemployed. You seem to be making assumptions about the person/people you are attacking like where the car came from. Isn't a car basically a necessity for anyone who lives in the US or is there a good Public TRansport system. There is here in the UK but it will cost you $6 of your $84 just to go to Town and back to check the job vacancies or do some shopping.

What is the Unemployment rate in the US?  Google says The unemployment rate in the United States was last reported at 9.60 percent in October of 2010How does that make the unemployed feel about their chances of getting a job? How are 10% of the working population suddenly going to get employment just by trying a bit harder because you are ranting at them. When you have full employment and there are vacancies not being taken up by the unemployed then you can start ranting.

Instead of ranting at the unemployed on Social Security or those who are unable to work because of disability try being grateful that you  are one of the the lucky 90% that actually do have a job and pray you don't get made redundant through no fault of your own but because some greedy bankers earning a $1,000,000  a  year lent money they did not own to people who could not pay it bacvk because by doing that they would get a big enough bonus to see them quite nicely through any depression they were about to cause.

well if they can not get up and off the system then offend they need. Unless of course they are like me . where people do not see me but only my condition. I liked the poem it was great and it touched on a real concern and gene does have a way of inspiring things that get our thoughts going. Always Maggie.

When will it happen?   Possibly at the second coming.  I'm looking
forward to it.  Hey, I'm flattered with your comment.  I don't know that
I've ever done that before.  If it offends, it would be just the guilty ones who'd complain.  I like it myself.

Thanks for telling me
