My Promise
I dont know you
I just know your name
I dont know how you're feeling
I cant imagine your pain

Just know this
You're not alone in your plight
Around you we'll gather
Together we'll fight

In your darkest moments
When you feel most alone
We'll never be far
Just pick up the phone

We'll be there in an instant
Our time becomes yours
Just think about living
We'll take care of the chores
Author's Notes:
I wrote this for a friend who's heart is breaking. The woman he loves is about to lose a long, long fight with the big C.
There was some more of it, but I decided not to post it on here.

What you posted says plenty. If we could say as much to any friend in need, we might bring a bit of light into their darkest trials. We had a minister once who objected to any display of human caring. When someone shed tears, he said, we should turn away. Give them their privacy, not make an issue of it. We were huggers. We didn't keep him very long. Well done. ML

Your generous heart is the best thing I love about you, buddy..MY sean, Sean just lost his best friend to cancer of the spine and lungs...The young man never said a word to Sean unil he couldn't hide the pain anymore...The bravery that must have taken is beyond my imagination....len

John, you have always come across to me as being a good heart. This piece of your heart seals it. They say that most friends flee or disappear when they hear the word cancer. I think it is because they don't know what to say or do. You make it pretty simple by just being there and picking up the pieces. Wonderful poem of love and friendship. Your friend has an angel in you.

Oh beautiful my dear.  A heartfelt, honest and emotional piece for your friend. Just brilliant John, really special.
