Make the Best of Everyday

~Stepping Stone~

Time is nothing more than a stepping stone

The past portrays ways in which we have grown

The futures like a puzzle that’s yet to be solved

Life can be a game if you choose to get involved

We stand in line for a chance to taste the wine

While searching for direction or at least a sign

So take a deep breath before we finally sink

Existence is a shallow well so take a big drink

Silence is not golden if you do not speak

Everyone is special and we’re each unique

Living our life story we have yet to tell

Until your soul will leave its protective shell

Don't be in a hurry just to reach the end

Make it really count and don't just pretend

You’re the greatest gift ever given to you

Make it past the destination you're traveling to

Chorus

Very quickly our time is beginning to crumble

With each passing step we trip and stumble

To balance the scale between right and wrongs

We’ve yet to learn that each person belongs

~Have I~

Have I done the best of all that I could

Have I lived my life the way I should

Have I said the things I couldn’t say

Have I made the best of each new day

Have I been strong when I felt fear

Have I heard things that I need to hear

Have I kept a smile when skies were gray

Have I made the best of each new day

Have I learned or failed to understand

Have I lent very many a helping hand

Have I allowed my morals to ever stray
Have I made the best of each new day
Author's Notes:

As some of you may have noticed, the last few post I've put up were
collaborations between my sons music and my poetry. Whenever Jimmy
co-wrote with me, the emotion he could deliver could at times actually
absorb into to me simply by listening to his music. This song is a great example
of someone asking themselves if they've made the best out of their life.
Better than that, it also explains how each day is a new one to do with it what we will.

"Life can be a game if we choose to get involved"

I LOVE That Line!
Peace~

James

You are an amazing writer James,

One of my all time favorites.

Though I don't make it on this site too much anymore, it's a pleasure when I do and get to catch up on your work.

Take care,

Jeff

James

I know this might sound silly.  I tend to be a very emotional person, but this made me cry.  The words and the music are outstanding.
