If nothing else, I've warned you from the start
That little could be truly known or done;
That hidden is the way into my heart,
And I fall short as much as anyone;
That this fight might be lost or might be won,
And through it I would hold myself apart―
Of help or hindrance I would offer none
And let it take the course that fate would chart.
But never could I hold to that resolve,
For weakness walks beside me every pace―
Decisions no excuses can absolve―
Mistakes I had the power to erase:
My first was needing you to be my friend.
My last was not allowing it to end.

A lovely sonnet Mary - though I am puzzled as to why you called it 'Sisyphus'?
