" A Heart Of Compassion "

With open arms I took her in
To live in my home
The smiles she gives, brings joy to my heart
But what I feel saddened about is this..
This darling little baby just turned two years of age
Was born with adorable brown hair and eyes
Was diagnosed with spina bifida
She will never be able to walk or run
Like most two year olds will, do

She looks at me, like I'm her mother
And to know that her real mother has no part of her life
Just breaks my heart into.
I try so hard to fight these tears back, as she looks at me
For the pain in my heart can never compare
To what this sweet little child has to go through
She looks as though she is healthy as can be
And acts as though she has no pain within
If only I could take away this diease
I'd do it in a new york minute

She is to me like my very own, child
All cuddled up in my arms
I hug her tight, in the palm of my hands
Thanking God for this opportunity
For she's taught me a lesson of hope
Through the test of real condional love
What's that I hear?
She just begun to say her first words
Mommy

Sighing to the reality of this
Apart of me happy as can be,while another part is sad
That her real mommy can't be apart of her life
I turn my head in tears of compassion
Asking God to give me the courage to continue this journey
To shower this child with the love that she needs
And give me the strength to spread this love on to others
To be the best orphanage mom, a child could possibly need
In their time of need.

Author's Notes:
I've aways wanted to adopt children. My condional love is a gift I have to share with those less fortinate than myself! Being that my dad was an orphanage child. My heart truly breaks for these children! I just felt the tug on my heart tonight to write this one! Actually I have been looking into adoption. And reading the stories of these childrens lives filled with sickness breaks my heart so much to help! And to know that parents actually give their children away or sell them.Really breaks my heart!!

You make me believe that there are others who feel real compassion at a time when this country is so lacking in it. I see things each day that makes my eyes water and really wonder if others are blind to the need for real compassion in our world. I feel for you.!

That is so touching! I too have looked into adoption. But...then I chose a different profession lol. Thank you very much for sharing. I loved it.

just because you're not a biological parent doesn't make you any less her "mommy". you have a kind heart and I believe you will make an excellent mommy. This piece makes it easy to understand how you feel. very touching poem!
